An Evening Never to be Forgotten: Shostakovich XI led by Stefan Lano

Montevideo, Uruguay

... The date of September 2,1944 remains of historic significance to the SODRE as the date of the Uruguayan premier of Stravinskyʼs Le Sacre du Printemps conducted by Erich Kleiber.
Thus will be remembered the concert of June 8, 2013 when Stefan Lano offered an astonishing performance of the Symphony N° 11 by Dimitri Shostakovich. This extensive and intense symphony constitutes one of the most bold and important aesthetic experiments in music history. A symphony of broad dimensions encompassing a challenging spectrum of emotions, Lano delivered in full, using all of his agility of temperament and expressive dynamism.
The public thanked the orchestra with enthusiastic applause and especially for Stefan Lano, who, through his work with the orchestra is returning the National Symphony SODRE to the international level which it enjoyed in earlier times.
